WordPress Business Website: Logo Tutorial
The process of adding a company logo to a WordPress business website will depend largely on your WordPress Theme. The best WordPress Business Themes are designed to upload a company logo in the upper left-hand corner. This is the standard placement of a logo and is in-keeping with web design best practices.
If you decide to make your business website with WordPress, I would recommend selecting a theme designed specifically for business. WordPress is considered a blogging platform and a lot of the themes are designed for blogs like this one.
A professional business theme is designed for lead capture and the layout is more like a regular website. It also makes it easy to upload a business logo as you can see in the photo below.

Notice how the logo, call to action and phone number are the first content on the website? This carries over to all pages so potential customers can easily contact your business.

If the theme that you like doesn’t have an explicit logo area you can still include your business logo with a little extra effort. Some WP Themes start off with a header or banner area with no option to insert a logo.
Here is an example of the WordPress default theme Twenty Twelve. The top image is how it looks without any customization. In the second image, I add a logo and phone number to the theme by editing the theme’s header section. Additional white space has also been removed via css coding.

The logo is inserted into the Header using the Editor tab under Appearances. The yellow highlighted area is where I added the code. Adding a css class lets me control the appearance and placement of the logo and phone number.

The problem with making changes to the theme using the editor is that any changes you make will be overwritten whenever a theme has an update. This means that you will need to replace any code that you customized. To avoid this you can design the logo and phone number right into the header graphic like in the example below.

Whichever method you use to incorporate your business logo into you website remember to follow basic website graphics guidelines. Use the proper file format for screen use like .jpg, .gif & .png and lower resolution graphics to get the best results.
